Your challenge

Water is becoming scarcer and more expensive, and drought restrictions can limit your production. You need to secure your water supply and reduce your withdrawals.

Our solution

NEWASYS audits your water uses, identifies savings and designs the reuse of unconventional water (treated wastewater, process effluents, rainwater), fully independent of water treatment equipment manufacturers.

Water audit for Bio Brasseurs, an organic brewery

Context

Bio Brasseurs wanted an objective picture of its water consumption. The main goal was to better understand process flows and water uses in order to identify improvement opportunities that could actually be implemented.

Our approach

Our team carried out a comprehensive three-stage audit to optimise water use at the main production site: data collection, site visit, then analysis and recommendations. Our tailored approach allowed us to link the technical analysis to the specific features of brewing, from tank washing to cooling and beverage preparation.

Results & impact

The audit highlighted concrete levers for improvement, from simple monitoring and maintenance actions to more structural recycling solutions, with up to 30% reduction in water consumption through water reuse.

“Newasys stayed very close to our real needs, with a serious intervention tailored to a small company like ours.”

Our solutions for local authorities

Your challenge

Drought restrictions are becoming more frequent and water resources are under pressure, while municipal uses (green spaces, street cleaning, sports fields) keep growing.

Our solution

NEWASYS carries out water efficiency studies across your territory and designs the reuse of unconventional water (treated wastewater, rainwater, pool water) for municipal uses, fully independent of water treatment equipment manufacturers.

Example project

Treated wastewater reuse in Gueugnon

Context & challenge

In Gueugnon (6,500 inhabitants, Burgundy), the water supply relies mainly on the Arroux river, a resource now weakened by increasingly frequent droughts. This affects household needs, municipal uses and local economic activity, notably that of APERAM, a historic industrial player established in the area for more than 300 years. With growing pressure on the resource, reducing withdrawals and developing alternative solutions have become priorities.

Our approach

NEWASYS carried out an initial potential study, identifying scenarios for reusing water from the town's wastewater treatment plant and swimming pool. The aim was to match these resources with local urban and industrial needs, taking regulatory, technical and financial constraints into account.

This approach identified an ambitious project to make use of treated water from the municipal wastewater treatment plant. NEWASYS then supported the town of Gueugnon through a techno-economic study and the application to the Prefecture for authorisation to reuse treated wastewater.

Results & impact

The goal is to create a genuine local reuse chain for treated wastewater (260,000 m³/year) to meet several uses that do not require drinking water, including:

  • cleaning streets and the future waste collection centre,
  • watering green spaces,
  • industrial uses at the APERAM site.

Beyond its environmental benefits, this is an innovative, pioneering project that shows how a territory can implement concrete solutions to adapt to climate change.
