Europe extracts far more than it recycles
Every year, the EU extracts 5.2 billion tonnes of natural resources from its own territory (Eurostat, 2024) and generates 2.2 billion tonnes of waste (Eurostat, 2022). Only 41% of this waste is recycled, while 30% still ends up in landfill.
Raw material extraction and waste management have a considerable impact on climate change and biodiversity loss.
That is why SEITISS’s mission is to reuse industrial waste and turn it into high value-added circular products, reducing the need for virgin raw materials and supporting local economic development.

Climate change will make droughts more frequent and more intense: at +2°C of global warming, droughts that used to occur once a decade will be 2.4 times more likely (IPCC, AR6).
